Hogmanay Accommodation in Edinburgh

Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations are one of the largest in the world and attracts a huge amount of people to the city of Edinburgh. Hogmanay in Edinburgh is a four day free for all celebrating the new year with contemporary and traditional music, street theatre, a spectacular fireworks display and much much more!

The festivities lasts for four days and take place annually at the end of December and the beginning of January (29 December - 1st January), and is the perfect reason to book for a trip to Avoocates Apartments, Edinburgh!

The origin of the word Hogmanay is obscure thought to have been introduced to  Scotland through the Auld Alliance with France. Incorporating a mixture of traditions from the pagan Norse celebration of the winter solstice and customs from the Gaelic New Year's celebration of Samhain.

As many of the events need tickets - be sure to purchase them in advance to avoid any last minute panic! At midnight there is a spectacular firework display in front of Edinburgh Castle. The best views are from Princes Street, but you can also enjoy the view from any of the hills which surround the city.
